The Hudson Valley Book(store) Trail is a small directory of independent bookstores in the counties along the Hudson River Valley. Sharing is caring! HVBT encourages a culture of community and collaboration among independent book stores in this vast and diverse area of New York’s Hudson Valley! As of 2026 there are 73 listed on the HVBT Map, which can be found at many of the bookstores listed.

The HVBT began in 2019 by Walter Pahucki, owner of The Montgomery Book Exchange. When he closed his store in the summer of 2025, he passed this project onto me, long time friend (and HVBT graphic designer) Jessica. Hi! I am a former craft studio business owner, minimalist graphic designer of 15 years, and ofcourse a fellow book reader/lover/collector!

A few extra things about me; I’m 40, and my husband and I have a teenager and three rabbits.
-Spring and Summer, I like to garden and grow as much as possible.
-Summer and Fall, I work on large DIY home projects/woodworking.
-Late Fall & Winter is when I hibernate like a bear, but I also have a home library, so ‘tis the season for books and blankets. I don’t have a favorite book of all time, but my favorite genres are speculative fiction, absurdist fiction, dystopian, psychological and suspense/mystery. Please flood me with book recommendations I can squirrel away inside the cave of throw blankets, where I may have also hidden a floofy rabbit, for insulation.
